Who told the first Story???
Before humans created the Internet, before we built our cities, our Paleolithic and Neolithic ancestors depended on storytelling. They relied on it to warn each other about the ferocious predators and the harmful berries they encountered. They used oral storytelling to pass on generations of history and knowledge.
However, due to the very nature of storytelling itself, the first story ever told will forever be lost to us – shrouded in the mystery of time.
Perhaps, the first story might have been told by an empty-handed hunter returning to his family and using an elaborate story to explain his failure. Or perhaps, much like modern fairy tales, the first story might have been told to fussy children to soothe them for the night by their tired mother. Or maybe, it might have been the tribe leader recounting the heroism of the tribe’s ancestors. We shall never know.
What we do know for a fact is that our ancestors told stories.
